Linking your Brother Printer/s to Andy

This article explains how to connect a Brother printer to an Android and iOS device.

We'll first show you a one-minute video tutorial on how to connect the printer, and then, the steps involved.

Currently, it is essential that the first connection and label printing be done with an Android device. Once an Android device has been connected and a label has been printed, you can pair all Android and iOS devices as desired.

Before starting the process, please refer to this article to find out which printers are approved for labelling with Andy.

Activating Bluetooth mode on the Brother printer

Firstly, make sure that the printer’s
Bluetooth mode is activated. If it isn’t, follow these steps to activate it:

To prevent that the Android and iOS device show two printers to link, click on Menu > Bluetooth > Mode > Classic on the labeller.

Pairing the printer with Android and iOS devices

1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth
2. Search for available devices and select your Printer model.
3. Enter the PIN to pair the printer. The PIN consists of the last 4 digits of the name displayed on the printer as “TD-2120NXXXX” “TD-4550DNWB_XXXX

If you can’t find a name in this format, try entering the last 4 digits of the printer's serial number.

If you are accessing the Labelling tool for the first time without having set it up, you will be show this message: “The printer is not yet set up." Click on "Let's do it!" and you will be taken to the Printer’s Settings section.

From the main menu go to Settings >  Printer and:

1. Select the model of the printer you are using
2. From the list of devices linked via Bluetooth, select your printer model.
3. Assign a name to the printer (optional).
4. Click on “Save”.

Due to a limitation of the Bluetooth system on iOS, if you want to print from an Android device, you must first disable the Bluetooth of the linked iOS device in Settings > Bluetooth > Deactivate.
When you want to print with iOS again, activate Bluetooth, and you're ready to go!

And that’s it! Your printer is linked to Andy and you can now start labelling your food!
