How do I recover the signal from my Dobbox sensor in Andy?

At Andy, we use Dobbox sensors to constantly monitor the temperature of equipment that requires it. However, it’s possible that the signal from some of these sensors may be affected. In this article, we’ll show you how to resolve this issue.

Before continuing with this article, we recommend reviewing the Linking your Dobbox sensors to Andy

Sensors

If no data is being received from one of the sensors, it could be due to several reasons: the sensor may be turned off, it may be too far from the receiver, or it may have been damaged and stopped working.
To avoid issues, make sure the sensors are properly positioned and free of obstructions. Also check their physical condition — for example, whether there’s ice around them, excess water, or visible signs of impact. If a sensor is not connecting, follow these steps to fix it:
  1. Ensure that the sensors are well placed and not blocked by any obstacles.
  1. Check that they’re in good condition, with no ice around them, no excess water, and no visible damage.
  1. If a sensor still doesn’t connect, try restarting it along with the receiver.

Receivers

If after these checks none of the sensors are communicating, the issue may lie with the receiver. This can happen for several reasons:
  1. Check if you have an active internet connection or if the connection has dropped.
  1. Verify whether there has been a power outage.
  1. Make sure the receiver’s power adapter is working and that at least one light is on.
  1. Ensure the antenna is tightly screwed in.
  1. Check the router’s configuration and make sure DHCP is enabled.
  1. Ensure that there is no firewall on the router blocking communications.
  1. Verify that the receiver is not too far from the router. Try plugging it in closer to both the router and the sensors, preferably in an elevated position to improve signal strength.

If the receiver and router are still not communicating, restart them by unplugging them from the power source and plugging them back in. Once done, check if the sensor is receiving a signal in Andy.

Info
If you still can’t restore the connection, uninstall the doBBox app and reinstall it, making sure to accept all required permissions.
